Digital Marketing & PR Students are Making Memories for Alzheimer Day Centre

25 November 2021

Third Year Students from DkIT's BA in Digital Marketing & PR course will be hosting a charity event for The Birches Alzheimer Day Centre at the DkIT campus on Tuesday November 30th

The theme of the event is “making memories” and will include fun activities such as photobooths, treasure hunts, and quizzes.

The Birches Day Centre, based in Dundalk,  had to close their doors when the Covid-19 Pandemic developed in 2020. What was once a lively day centre with music, dancing, and painting, became a distant memory.

“The events we have running are brilliant, they’re all themed towards making memories, and it’s for such a good cause too. We had a talk from the people who run The Birches and their story made us all so emotional. It’s so hard to hear what the patients and their families have been through over the past 18 months, which is why we want to support such an incredible local charity.”

Eleanor McGuinness, Third Year Student.

All proceeds will go to The Birches Alzheimer’s Day Centre in Dundalk. You can support the events by donating to the IDonate Page at : https://www.idonate.ie/makingmemories

Gerry Murphy of the Birches is delighted that the students have chosen to fundraise for the Birches Alzheimer Day Centre.

“It is most gratifying for us at “The Birches” to be associated with this inspirational & wonderful group of students & lecturers at the superb DKIT who over the years have been a great source of support to people who avail of the excellent service provided at “The Birches” Alzheimer day centre. We wish them the very best for their stimulating and very apt “making memories” day on Tuesday November 30 and look forward to having the opportunity to also join in the Fun.”
